The nationally award-winning Broadcast Journalism classes prepare students for a future in journalism, film, television, and marketing. Students learn a variety of skills including news writing, research and reporting, as well as technical aspects of production like videography, editing and sound recording.
Students work individually and in groups to create a variety of journalistic stories, including podcasts, social media, web, and video stories. They may also produce the nationally award-winning newscast, The Mustang Morning News. This publication is a public forum for student expression, and staff members make all content and editorial decisions in accordance with the California education code and free speech law. Students compete and win awards at national journalism competitions and conventions, and alumni of the program have continued their work at prestigious film and journalism schools.
